Home Modification & Maintenance Service (HMMS) provides modifications and some maintenance work for people who are frail or aged and people with disabilities, so they may live more independently in the community and remain in their homes longer. The major emphasis is on access, safety and independence.

HMMS is not a free service. All clients are asked to make a contribution based on their capacity to pay.

To be eligible for HACC HMMS service, you must:

  • be living in your own home in the community
  • have difficulty performing everyday tasks without help
  • be at risk of inappropriate admission into residential care

HMMS office hours are 9.00am - 4.00pm Tuesday-Friday

Home Modifications -  minor modifications may include:

  • supply and installation of grab rails
  • supply and installation of handrails
  • supply and installation of hand held showers
  • access modifications such as ramps, step wedges, easy steps and paths to suit individual needs
  • lever taps
  • widening doorways

 We can also assist with major modifications, including:

  • access modifications such as ramps
  • bathroom modifications
  • kitchen modifications
  • safety modifications

Home Maintenance -   HMMS qualified subcontractors can assist with home maintenance work related specifically to safety and access, including:

  • adjusting temperature on hot water systems
  • Safety adjustments eg making cords, rugs, etc safe
  • cleaning out gutters
  • once a year yard cleanups
  • unblocking drains and pipes

HACC home maintenance does not inlcude general repairs or beautification to a property.
